M.V.Verity

A former Trinity House 40ft Twin Screw High Speed Pilot Launch
available for Training, cruising and Corporate events

Verity was commissioned for The Corporation of Trinity House of Deptford Strond in 1968. An extract from the specification, 1.(a)stated:
The launch to fulfill all reasonable functions of a Pilot Launch; to be suitable for open sea work and boarding duties in severe weather conditions; to have a good turn of speed, with good maneuverability at all speeds, and to be suitable for grounding in harbour, and to be equipped with lifting eyes fore and aft. Accommodation to be arranged for a crew of two, with seating for seven pilots.

Paragraph 3(a) states that the hull be moulded in G.R.P. by Halmatic Ltd. To the standard lines of the Nelson 40' Launch, under Lloyd's inspection.

All materials to be fire retardant after manufacture.

Special attention must be given during construction to reinforcement of hull to allow for the vessel to take the ground in way of fendering for when the vessel is going alongside other vessels in heavy weather.

On 18th April 1968 sea trials were carried out at Shoreham in a Force 2. Verity was fully laden and averaged about 18 knots. A full turn took 25 secs and 2 ¼ lengths. Full speed to stop took 8 secs.

The total cost recorded was £20,667.

Verity is recorded as arriving safely on station at Harwich on 23 April 1968.
